Troublesome Doctrines, True and False!

One of the most obvious problems with speaking of spiritual things is that spiritual matters cannot be physically demonstrated to prove them correct. So, it seems to me that it is a big temptation to go overboard in explaining what it all means. Sometimes what is hazarded as a guess becomes believable and ultimately is received into religious tradition. Once this occurs, it becomes extremely difficult to effectively challenge it in an effort to show what is really true about the spiritual subject.

What is found below is a collection of what I refer to as Troublesome Doctrines. Some are outright errors, while others are misunderstood and often mixed with superstition and error. Often error can be avoided simply by considering what we interpret from the Bible and asking ourselves does this understanding glorify God? Would God do this thing? If we believe in an all powerful, all knowing and loving God, great errors can be recognized and discarded before they become believed and problematic. Anyway that’s what I believe and try to put into practice on a personal level.
