The Book of Daniel

The studies listed below do no represent a study of the whole book of Daniel, only parts, which I had chosen to study and post back in November/December of 2009 and February/June/August of 2010. Actually, at that time I merely updated studies I wrote for myself prior to the internet, and even these were updated later in 2024. If anyone wishes to go through the entire Book of Daniel with me, you can do that in my latest study of the book as of 2024, Studies in the Book of Daniel.

The prophesies of the latter half of Daniel are mainly about one prophecy, Nebuchadnezzar’s dream of four empires in chapter two of the book. Certainly there were other empires, but these four: Babylon, Persia, Greece and Rome, brought the Jews from the days of their sovereignty to the last days. The last days are the last days of the Old Covenant, not the end of time. It was the time of the end of the Jewish nation representing God to the nations and the time when the saints inherited the Kingdom, namely those folks, Jews and gentiles who were willing to submit to the Lord, their God.

So, all the other prophecies of Daniel, beginning with chapter seven to the end of the book, magnify and elaborate on the first prophecy found in the book, Nebuchadnezar’s dream in chapter two. Just as that prophecy brings us from the Babylonians Empire to Christ, so do the prophecies in chapters seven through twelve, where the book ends. The “end” comes with Christ’s ministry and work through his disciples, which culminates in the destruction of Jerusalem and the Temple in AD 70, ending the Old Covenant, and establishing the New Covenant, not with a nation, but with individuals of all races, whose hearts are yielded to the Lord, God of Israel.
